My feelings about RSD are quite mixed. I brought home a fine haul of releases, and had a good time with other people willing to be ready at eight in the morning to buy records.
On the other hand, for multiple years the months up to RSD, and a bit after, have turned out to be the time of the year where I get the fewest new releases. When all the pressing plants are pumping out everything from AC/DC represses to One Direction 7” picture discs, all at once, the smaller quantity releases from all sorts of independent labels get put back in line. And that sucks.
Remember - every day can be record store day. If you have a cool shop in your neighborhood, worth supporting, then do it all year long.
